Pet Sounds

Just seen a documentary on Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds. Never really come across the album before. Just how good is it? Where does it stand in an all-time list? Is it worth buying?

If the documentary has prompted you to listen to Pet Sounds all well and good though, as a fan of long-standing* I thought it was a real disappointment. Terribly edited and written (Mr Lamar you should be ashamed) and while some of the footage was excellent much was completely out of place.
Fan of long-standing? Well, I have the four-CD boxset of Pet Sounds - original/ setero re-mix and two CDs of out-takes and studio sessions. Saw Brian three times this year (but refuse to be conned by shelling out 60 this time round) and even painted the Surf's Up album cover on my bag at school, despite merciless ribbing!!
Sorry I waffled, but I *love* Pet Sounds so much!!
