Christmas Gifts - Any Nurses Out There?
14 Answers
I spend a lot of time in the local hospital cancer unit and I have got to know pretty much everybody who works there. I would like to give the staff some chocolates at Christmas but I have noticed that there always seems to be a box of Quality Street or Roses behind the desk that the patients have donated so I`m not sure that they want yet more chocolates. I was thinking of making a jamaican ginger cake (my speciality), slicing it up and taking that along for them. Do you think that would go down OK? I`m not sure of the protocol re gifts

My oldest and best friend is a nurse but she couldn`t advise as she hasn`t worked on the wards for many years but she said that when she worked in a GP practice, they had a Sister who used to ration the chocolates that were given to the staff by the patients. The Sister used to lock the chocolates in a cupboard and would only let the staff have them when she said so. Talk about control freak!
