I have some items still with their original boxes that I cannot bring myself to throw away. Does anyone collect or know of a museum that might want a couple of Archos Jukebox 6000s? This was the first or second MP3 player ever made. I can't get either to work anymore but a tech savvy individual may know how to get it to power up and play music again. Comes with the original installation disc/headphones/instructions. No one on eBay wants them and I can't think who would want them. Is there a museum anywhere that would collect ancient technology like these? They are really bulky - must weigh half a lb each! If I can't give them away I shall just have to bin them. Many thanks.
You could try the Museum of Science and Industry at Manchester. Given the close links between Manchester and computer development, they may wish to add your well-preserved original to their collections: http://www.mosi.org.uk/
Not sure you're correct about the governance Chris. They may belong to one national hub in terms of strategic planning, especially collaboration over exhibitions, but they are governed and run separately.
