It's a shame that we don't have lots of clear recordings of him (although the sound of the old recordings has a quality of its own).

And of course, Una Furtiva Lagrima is one of the "fast forward to this point" arias. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Stephen Fry says that, for full Italian effect, you have to pronounce Donizetti with a dramatic pause ...

My copy of L'Elisir d'Amour is the Claudio Scimone recording, with José Carreras singing Nemorino.

He's great. But ... not as great as Caruso.
