Largest UK TV audience, normally. So yes people watch it in their millions, but maybe not the typical AB demographic perhaps?
Everyone bangs on about the voting being biased, but it isn't in the sense people mean. Macedonia and Montenegro are already being investigated for using 100% televoting, interestingly, which is against the rules. Aside from that I don't think it's any different from the way it ever was, voting wise.
What HAS changed is that nowadays the songs are widely available on YouTube for weeks in advance, and many countries release tracks which go on to become Europe-wide hits in advance. Sweden's winner Euphoria from a few years back was being played all across the continent in bars and public places, and I thing "Heroes" (this year's winner) was the same.
So in a sense that is not really fair. Also, the countries that do well tend to feature well-known performers (Il Volo for Italy this year), Cinchita Wirst last, year, and so on.
Also, at 4 hours, I think it's getting a little long. The vote-casters (why on earth did we have Nigella Lawson doing it!!) really should be told to get on with it and stop trying to promote their sad selves.
Great evening as always though :-)
