Just been watching Rock 'N' Roll America on BBC4.
Really took me back in time. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pat Boone, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochrane, Everlies, Buddy Holly, and many more. It was really good.
Repeated at midnight.
There's also a Chuck Berry concert repeated at 2.00 am.
Also Elvis: That alright Mama. At 11.00.

Unless the Big Bopper is on it, I am not watching!
Question Author
I used to love the Big Bopper, unfortunately he wasn't on the show.
I used to go home from high school and watch Dick Clark every afternoon. Here's a sample: https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=dick+clark+american+bandstand&ei=UTF-8&;hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-003
The second one down.

That looks good too.
those were the days my friend we though they'd never end ......
Notice how well dressed the kids were; the guys even wore jackets and ties!
Question Author
At the start the audiences seemed so much older too.
Caran, according to the history of the American Bandstand, they were all teenagers. I guess we have to keep in mind that in the mid '50s to early '60s American teenagers would have appeared to be more well developed (therefore older) than British teenagers since the Americans didn't have to endure the harsh rationing during the war, and after, that the British did. Just a thought.

When I saw Pat Boone I was struck by the resemblance to Frank Skinner.
Did anyone else see it?
I didn't notice his resemblance to the Skinner fellow but I was surprised as to how much Don Everly has changed, I hardly recognised him.
I went to BBC4 and they won't let me watch it as I don't live in the UK. I was looking forward to it.

I noticed that too Barsel.

I wouldn't know how to go about that, Caran. Anyway, I'm off to get some supper: good evening.
In case Stuey comes back, here is the link to it.x

Try again
Now I give up as I don't know why it isn't working, sorry. x
