Vigin Media Bills Very High, Is Virgin The Best ?

£43 per month just for broadband. no tv. i see leaflets coming through my door for talk talk etc offering broadband at far lower rates.

ive spoken to virgin just now,, they have upgraded my broadband speed from 30 mbs - 70 mbs is that good ? bear in mind i stream everything through my smart tv using kodi and xbmc .

so am i paying for a decent deal.

Hi Die - I have heard that if you have Sky - you can get a lot ie broadband, TV and your phone calls - unsure how much you would pay but you could enquire.

Are you on Virgin cable? Cable is still far better than ADSL / non cable.

Also 30mbps is slow for Virgin cable, even 70mbps is not great for Virgin Cable.

I am on 100mbps and have been told that I will soon be raised to 150mbps at no extra cost (150mbps may not be available in all areas yet).

They also offer 200mbps in some areas.

Does the £43 include a phone line and phone?

p.s. dont go to talk talk at the moment, very risky.

my contract after 2 years with virgin is actually finished, so im on a monthly roll with them, i can cancel at any time if i give 30 days notice.

so maybe i can cancel and try get a better deal ? or call sales team and tell them im leaving ?

i pay £5 for box rental, fee for telephone line and of course a fee for broadband /cable. there is an increase of approx £3 coming in febuary 2016.

70mbps is still fantastically fast - you won't get anything like that speed from Sky.

What is the box rental? Surely that is tv?

I agree with VHG regarding 'Talk Talk'.

I speak from personal experience with them (bad).

Would not touch them with a barge pole!

virgin are yet to fix a cable fault in my area that they've known about for more than 2 years but either can't fix -or can't be bothered to fix. i dream of speeds of 30mbs, normally my speed is measured in kbs.

I've never had any complaints re Virgin...that sounds like a lot you're paying diesel. I get landline, broadband, free landline calls 24/7, Tivo box,and Router and my bill is usually in the high £60s.

You've just negotiated a new deal with Virgin increasing your speed from 30 - 70mbps.

That usually triggers a new one year contract, so check that before you plan to leave.

You mention that your contract is up .... tell them you're leaving to get a special introductory rate with Sky - they'll more than likely offer you a good deal to try and keep your custom.
That's what we did last time - we currently pay £24 per month for 70 mbs broadband, phone line and TV - fixed until the end of the contract (which I think is 12 months).

I'm fairly sure that the speed upgrade is free and doesn't affect your contract, 'cos we've just upgraded from 50 to 70 mbs.

so , next step i will leave it for a few days then tell them im leaving to try squeeze something out of them but i think that what ive heard is that virgin deals are simply much much better than sky.

I'm wondering what this £5 is as well.
I'm fairly sure if you squeeze them, they'll give you a good deal.
The £24 per month that we pay, also includes our Tivo box :)

the only box i have is a modem....so i dont understand myself why they are charging me for a "box"
