Did anyone watch this? Great concert. Can anyone tell me the name of the tune that was played during the closing credits, please? It was a big hit, but for the life of me I can't think what it's called. Thanks

Can you remember any of the lyrics, Cloverjo ?.
Question Author
There were no lyrics. I can't remember if there were any in the original hit, or if this was just an instrumental version of a song. It has quite a melancholy tone.
I didn't watch it (though have seen him live and he was fantastic!) but could it be A Song for Guy which is an instrumental piece?
Could it be this one then, Cloverjo.

Amazing performer.

I don't remember hearing that one, but I missed the beginning of the concert, so he might have done earlier on.
Song For Guy was a memorial for a bike messenger who worked for Elton's label Rocket Records, who was killed in a road accident.
Think he peaked at alligator stone .Now wants to run the world .Not for me I'm out

Thanks, Andy-hughes. I didn't know that. How sad. I had always thought it must be a tribute to an old boyfriend.
The one line vocal is, I think open to two interpretations - it can be saying -

'Life isn't everything ...'

but I have always thought it actually says

'Isn't everything life ...?'

That's how I have always heard it anyway.
He played that as the closing piece when I went to see him in an ourdoor concert in the country years ago. I always run off during the last song so that I can beat the rush and get away without getting stuck in the car park for hours. It was a beautififul summer night and I remember running across a field looking at the moon and I could still hear him playing in the background. It`s one of those moments I`ll always remember

Apparently Elton wrote the song one Sunday, thinking about death, and the next day he heard that seventeen-year-old Guy had died on that Sunday, so he dedicated the song in his memory.

That's lovely, 237SJ. I saw him at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas ,in 2006, which was fantastic, but not half so romantic as your experience.
