For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.New album first. The sound of the album has changed dramatically. The more recent songs that have now been worked on with my new producer are considerably different to those that had already been done.Because of that, I took the decision to go back and rework all of the earlier songs so that everything, the entire album, could be bought in line and up to that same sound.
The Numan fan in 2006 is going to have more new Numan music than in any other year of my career.
The final versions of all the new songs will be completed within the next two to three weeks and I will have the vocals and mixes done by early November. The artwork and photos etc will be worked on throughout December and the promo material made ready for sending out to magazines in January ready for publication in the month of release.
So, the album release date is to be March 13, 2006 in the UK. The UK launch gig for the new album, a gig that we will also film for a special alternative DVD version of the album, will take place at The Forum in London on March 18. I'll let you know as soon as we start to sell tickets for that show.
I have a new agent, Ed Stringfellow of The Agency, who handles The Killers amongst many others, and he is putting together a European Tour that takes up all of May and includes a full UK tour, including Ireland and Scotland for those of you that were wondering. He is also trying hard to see if we can finally get some meaningful festival dates lined up throughout the year.
Other news. I've sold my house. Gemma still hasn't had baby girl number 2. She is now 36 weeks and two days and we are still being told that it could be any minute. Had a few scares but things seem to be going well in general. Raven is now two .So that's about all the news.*Taken from Gary Numan website.
Gary has continued to release at least one album a year throughout his career. he has ensured severe finnancial problems, but is now solvent again, thanks to his increased profile caused by Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails namechecking him as a major influence, and the royalties from the Numan songs that Reznor has recorded.
I think GN is a top bloke - much misunderstood. His shyness is mistaken for arrogance, but with people he knows, and is comfortable with, he is relaxed, and has a sharp sense of humour.
He took me flying in his plane as a thankyou for a positive feature I wrote about him - it was a fabulous experience.
