I was watching an old BBC programme & they played this great
song with all the strings & horns it deserved.

I was intrigued by a reference that it was composed as a tribute
to Billie Jean King - the tennis player.

Any truth in that?

I heard something a couple of years ago that said the same ( Billy Jean King ), Mampara. Might have been the same programme.

Thanks Sam.

So it was a favour rather than a tribute.

Thanks Tony.

I hadn't seen that particular video before.
I can see Elton & Billie Jean were friends but I'm not convinced
that the lyrics are a tribute to her.
