Default Music Player

Since installing windows 10, my default music player has become Groove Music. The tone etc. is quite awful.How can I change back to Windows Media Player being the default please? Or how can I change the tone, add more bass etc. to Groove?

Looking at the next-but-one post, and the link to The Windows Club, it doesn't appear that what I want to do is possible. So, is there any music player i can make my default which might be better than Groove please? what do you experts use?

if you right click on a music file select properties then look at "open with" then choose windows media " and apply .that should change all your music to be opened with that

There was no 'apply' tab unfortunately. The change mentioned above only happened for that one track. Groove was still the default.

When you right click on the music file that you wish to open, select the, "open with", but DON'T select the program from there, instead click on, "choose another app".
The program that you want to open it with will be in the list, but you'll also get the option to tick the box, "always use this app to open .mp3 files" (or whatever file you're trying to open).

Not in a position to check at present but isn't there a page in Windows settings where you can set the main group of default programmes to do the basic things ? Feel sure I came across one when investigating what Win10 had.

all i can say is on my win10 music files if i do what i said in my answer to mr h is that if i click on one file and changed it to "whatever" it changes all my music files to that open with programme.not just the one i clicked on
