I'm just getting stuck into a few glasses of Beirao - a rather nice local Portuguese liqueur. After a meal of sardines & chips and a couple of beers it really hits the spot.

I will undoubtedly buy at least one bottle of said alcoholic beverage at the airport - then take it home to sit neglected with all the other weird gear that I've accumulated over the years (french apricot and almond brandy anyone? - how about a tooth-rottingly sweet Italian orange monstrosity??)

Whey do we do this??

What horrors are hiding in your deep, dark recesses?

A bottle of raspberry liqueur from Majorca. Tastes like cough mixture, whatever possessed Mr U I will never know!
Mongolian Vodka and very Irish in potato taste. Say hi and cheers to Gness.

St John's Commanderia - how do the Cypriots make such distilled shyyte - ah, it's made from the remnants of the Turkish side. Now I understand.

I love limoncello and raspberry liqueur.
I turned the booze cupboard out last year and tossed several of the more horrifying things down the kitchen sink....they didn’t half bring the stainless steel up nicely which is a tad worrying....
Slainte, DT.....

Top tip....if you line all those bottles up and find a couple of little drumsticks they make a great xylophone for some Christmas amusement......x
I've got a bottle of creme de cassis that's been hanging around for years. I can't remember why on earth I bought it.
because its lovely with white wine, ice and soda, or in champagne or any kind of fizz
Agree about the creme de cassis, the rest sits in the cupboard and occasionally comes out for a recipe. At least it does not go off.
well, there's Cloverjo under the piano on Christmas morning......
Two Christmases ago, I did make a trifle with Panettone soaked in Limoncello as the base. It went down rather well.

Can I do the same this year? Is it safe?
Creme de cassis is loverly, I often have a small snifter after a meal.
Of course it is Tilly, it's alcohol and won't go off.
Small, Eth?
Don't be daft Ecc, large or nothing in this establishment
That was it. We bought the creme de cassis to mask the taste of a case of slightly nasty but expensive wine that we were given.
Love Creme de Cassis in cava. I also have a some Limoncello, lurking at the back of the cupboard, amongst other dubious bottles . I will have to have a clear out soon. Isn't it curious how we enjoy these drinks in their respective homes, but just don't work at home. Except for wine....
I was presented with a small bottle of what appeared to be dyed raffia in a dark, bitter liquid.
'Very popular in the Dominican Republic', they said. Utterly foul and down the sink.
A bottle of Mead. I think I have had it for about 30 years. Raffle prize or something.
