I was never a great Beatles fan, I was 15 at the time, I remember saving up my hard-earned money 'cus I really wanted that one then playing it for ages, still got and it stills plays well even now.
Another small point. The new release of Sgt Pepper wil include the tracks Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane. These were intended by Lennon and McCartney to be on the original but were purloined by Parlophone and released as a double a side single prior to the release. I remember ordering it when it was due out and opted for the mono version because at the time I did not have a stereo player. The mono version is I think now worth more as a collectors item because of it's rarity. The 10,000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire are now in the roads up here.
Mum bought surprise tickets for me and my brother to go and see the Beatles at the Liverpool Empire in 1964 - wonderful ! I can remember it like it was yesterday ...
