Black Sabbath were formed in Birmingham in the late 60s - more of an album band than a singles band, they had one big hit with Paranoid (No.4 late 1970). And yes, Ozzy was the lead singer (also featuring Tommy Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and drummer Bill Ward). As a solo artist Ozzy's never cracked the top 20 (well, he reached 20 with So Tired in 1984 and Shot In The Dark two years later).
