I have just heard this on the radio. My sister was a big fan of Marc Bolan (she was a few years older than me) It still sounds fantastic though

A great band in their time, 237SJ.

They were ahead of their time as well
Sure do.

Not bad for a Jewish boy from North London. He died not far from here (Barnes) I have never been to have a look at where he died. I should do and pay my respects.
I disagree, 237SJ, they were very much of their time, so was I. :)

Not bad at all

A few years ago I took our young son to a forest playgrond where we rode on a large white plastic swan in a pool.
He then took a mini car out to drive and promptly crashed it into a tree.
It was our Marc Bolan morning, as I pointed out to him but of course he didn't understand.
They were indeed a wonderful band.

They went from being a dippy hippy duo singing about Tolkien-esque elves and faeries, to a full rock band glam rock sensation with a mass of huge hits.

In the process, Marc Bolan also turned from an earnest young man into bloated coke-addled egomaniac with his career on the skids when he lost his life in a car smash.

But the music lives on - get yourself a copy of the Electric Warrior album, a platter that matters.

No, they were very much of their time, because they helped to create what their time was, the height of glam rock.

I think your previous post is a bit harsh AH
Reminds me of junior school. Apparently Marc was a bit of a control freak and was very 'my way or the highway' with his backing band. Metal Guru is my favourite.

that's maybe what he became after the break up of T Rex, but at the time of his death he'd just completed a successful TV series for Granada (Marc), was as fit and trim as he'd been in his heyday and looked to be on the verge of a comeback.

I think the passing of time may have coloured your memory in an over-positive way.

There is one memorable clip of Bolan - looking bloated and glassy-eyed, introducing a band and sniffing loudly the last toot of coke he had ingested in the seconds before the red light came on.

His career was on the skids, his band was gone, he was a coke head, and his further slide into obscurity was halted only by his tragic death, leaving the legacy of the fabulous music he created at his artistic peak, sadly long behind him by the time of his TV show.
I could hardly believe it when I found out he was hooked up with Gloria Jones.

Not my intention I assure you, please accept my apologies if it came across as such.
Electric Warrior still wonderful.
