Wasting Police Time And Threads To Kill
Hi can anyone give me advise on sentencing for these please.
First
Wasting police time
I have sent about 25 emails to the police which are false plus made about 10 false 999 calls. No one has been arrested and it has not affected anyone but me. I am not sure if it would be classed as wasting police time or preverting the course of justice.
Second
Threats to kill
I have made false profiles on facebook and then threated a man a hate. On one post i put his name then (R.I.P you are dead or soon to be) and the other posts were about the same type of thing.
The other thing you need to know is i have a record already from about 10 years ago which inclues arson false reports to the fire service, theft and criminal Damage.
I know this all sounds bad but i need to know what i am looking at thanks.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It entirely depends on what the charges are when you are arrested. That will then give you an idea of the 'range' of sentences the Judge/Magistrate has as his disposal.
Then, given whatever defence you offer may have a mitigating effect, it is impossible for anyone here to give you a definitive answer.

wasting police time is here
https:/ /www.in brief.c o.uk/of fences/ wasting -police -time/
and it goes on to perverting the course of justice
which is usually reserved if there has been a court case and a conviction
threats to kill is here

BUT - it is early days - you are looking at nothing until they charge if at all
Criteria for charging are different - and I think you are fearing far worse charges than any that will in fact be brought

as far as I know, perverting the course of justice only begins once the justice system is involved. At the moment, just wsting police time sounds the more appropriate charge.
It's not a victimless crime, though. If polilce are unable to attend an emergency because they're out chasing up false information, many people could be affected.

It looks as if it depends who you threaten, and how plausible your threats are. You (probably) wouldn't get into trouble for obviously joking; but it sounds as though you weren't

Peter - your links are the ones which I tried to point the IP in the direction of and they give IP food for thought.
