What are you trying to play the CD in? Is it your computer or a CD player? If you directly burn MP3 files to a CD you'll end up with a data disc, rather than an audio disc. You'll be able to put that disc into a computer and play the files but the majority of CD players won't recognise it as a valid disc. CD players expect to receive a CD that actually has a SINGLE file on it...

I've had no trouble with this (not tried it for a few weeks, though)

Use Firefox with this extension installed:
https:/ /addons .mozill a.org/e n-GB/fi refox/a ddon/ea sy-yout ube-vid eo-down load/
It allows you to choose between 128kbps and 256kbps quality. (Most other software, and online services, only provide 128kbps quality, at best).
PS: I assume that you'll only be using it to download stuff which isn't commercially available, Andy. I'm sure that a music journalist wouldn't stoop to illegal stream-ripping, would he?

Hmmm
I've just noticed (or, more accurately, remembered) that you need to pay for the 'Pro' version in order to get the MP3 download facility. It's just a one-off payment though, on a 'pay what you like' basis, with the options going as low as US$10, so it's well worth it.
(The alternative way of getting MP3 files, using that extension and without paying anything, is to download the MP4 video and then to extract the MP3 content using VLC. It's because I've been doing that myself recently that I'd forgotten about the 'direct' route now requiring a small payment).

Further to my posts above, if you're a real cheapskate (and don't want to make a small donation to get the MP3 download facility from the Firefox extension I've recommended), simply click on this link:

That will drop a cookie onto your computer, telling the download service's server that you've paid (even though you haven't).
(If you sometimes clear cookies from your computer, bookmark that page so you get the cookie back at a later date).

Hi Andy
Once you've got the extension installed, when you visit a Youtube page you should see a big green 'Download As' button underneath the video, as here:
https:/ /img11. hosting pics.ne t/pics/ 405443Y outube. jpg
Click on it, select your preferred file type and then choose where to save it to (just as if you were saving a Word document, or similar, to our hard drive). Easy peasy!
[When saving video at the highest resolution, or MP3 files, you'll encounter a very short wait while the file is uploaded for processing because it can't be done directly on your own computer. If you're saving video files at lower resolutions it's instantaneous]

If you directly burn MP3 files to a CD you'll end up with a data disc, rather than an audio disc. You'll be able to put that disc into a computer and play the files but the majority of CD players won't recognise it as a valid disc.
CD players expect to receive a CD that actually has a SINGLE file on it (even though that file might actually contain lots of different music tracks), with that file occupying ALL of the space on the disc. The file is actually a CDDA one, rather than an MP3 one.
Fortunately you don't have to be a technical wizard to burn a CD which will work in a CD player. All you need to do is to ensure that you've selected the option to burn an audio disc, rather than a data one. (Remember though that, because an audio disc has a single file on it, occupying all of the available space, you can't burn one track to a disc and then add further tracks later on. If you try to do that your computer will see the disc as 'full' when you try to add the later tracks. So you have to assemble all of the tracks in your album together first and then burn them all to the audio CD at the same time).
You've not said which disc-burning software you're using but this freebie is far better than anything which comes with Windows:

(It's incredibly intuitive. Even I can use it!)

Step 1: My link above should take you to nice big 'Download' button, illustrated here:
https:/ /img11. hosting pics.ne t/pics/ 838835A shampoo 1.jpg
Step 2: Clicking on the 'Download' button should, indeed, take you to a page of software offers but (after a few moments) a box should appear on top of that page, as here:
https:/ /img11. hosting pics.ne t/pics/ 437739A shampo2 .jpg
If you see that box, click on 'Save File', save the download to your 'Downloads' folder (or anywhere else you please). Go to your 'Downloads' folder (or wherever) and double-click on the file to install the program.
If you DON'T see that box, there's a a blue line towards the top of the page that you should click on, illustrated here:
https:/ /img11. hosting pics.ne t/pics/ 375021A shampoo 3.jpg
That should then give you the 'Save as' option, as above.

When I found that my Firefox add-on no longer works I tried this:
https:/ /www.yt 2mp3.ws /
And found it very good, with none of the problems that Buenchico outlined in your BA.
