My son's beautiful dog was put to sleep this morning. Only 21 months old, it was discovered she had malformed kidneys when she was 11 months old and she's been on medication since then but she became very poorly and it was time to let go. The grandchildren will be so upset when they come home from school although they knew she wouldn't be with them for long. This will be the 6th dog I've said a tearful goodbye to in my lifetime, doesn't get any easier does it?
So sorry to hear that horselady,
I've had to do it 7 times now, and you're right it doesn't get any easier.
All you can do is cherish them while they're with you, and think on PTS as being the final act of kindness you can do for them.
Thank you for your kind comments. She was very loved and will be missed. I had her for a week last summer while they went away and I'm so glad I did, we had a lovely time, just the two of us.
