The man was a complete wordsmith. I love my heavy music and prog/hard rock, but i can (and often do) listen to the 3 or 4 Cohen CDs i possess.

As regulars will know, I visit the Montreal Jazz Festival every year to interview and review performers. They have an amazing museum of artefacts from previous performers, one of which is a hat donated by Mr Cohen. It's amazing how small his head must have been, given the galaxy-sized intellect and creative mind it contained.

I have been a fan of his music since I was seventeen, I still can't believe I will never get to see him play live, or talk to him.

I used to listen to Leonard Cohen music with my best friend when we were pre teens. I loved all of the black soul/funk and she loved Leonard. Fair enough but I always thought it sounded like music to slit your wrists to.

Admittedly, one would have to be in the mood for Leonard! I love his voice, but as been said, each to their own! To me he was a beautiful soul.

He is not depressing in my view, but he is melancholy, which is similar, but actually different.
