Should The U.k. Now Pull Out Of The Eurovision Song Contest?

Ours was definitely among the better songs this year with its very catchy hook, SuRie performed it brilliantly and handled the stage invasion with enormous dignity and courage, yet we came 24th out of 26th. The U.K invests a lot of money in the Contest every year, yet for ages now our entry has got next to nil points. No doubt political voting and dislike of us because of Brexit will ensure that won’t change for a long time to come. So don’t you think we should just leave it altogether now?

Given the poltical voting it is entirely pointless for the UK to be a part of this competition. There are only two music powerhouses in the world, the UK and the USA, and as the USA don't compete, by rights we should be close to the top every year, and yet in 21 years we haven't even had a sniff of winning it. Some other countries occassionall y produce decent acts,...

Masses of people hate the U.K.....but masses of people either move here or are desperate to do so. Last night’s anti-British stage invader had a rucksack on his back, so Lord knows what could have happened. The Eurovision stage was invaded a few years, so why isn’t the stage and the artists better protected?

It gives the most deluded a place to go for a couple of days.
It's turned into an animated 1980s, especially for the Eastern Europeans.
Even as I type I can almost feel lips pursing into that cat's exit chute look and a head of steam building up to 'Well, you don't have to watch it'.
Save yourself the time.

I don't think Brexit should be associated with any song contest decision. Good taste and a desire for fair play should've ensured we withdrew from the competition years ago; but I suspect a love of farce and the ridiculous ensured that was always put off. If it still attracts viewers then let it be. Just make sure there's something worth watching on the other channels.
