I've been listening to 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow" updated version. When listening to it, I keep hearing Jessie J' s 'Price Tag'! Can anybody else hear the same chords in parts of it??

The basic chord progression of SotR is G D Em C
G D Em Em7 C

Price tag is: C Em Am F

So no, not really.

I've never noticed that. Which version do you mean as the versions are generally much slower than Price Tag.
However to my ears Kelly Clarkson's This is My Heartbeat song sounds very much like JJ's Price Tag.
In fact I've heard so much music over the years most songs now remind me of something else

Hum!

See what you mean ff! I can her SotR to that as well :-)
Lots of songs use tried and tested chord progressions. There aren't that many basic chords after all, so the same sequences crop up again and again. The two songs you've mentioned aren't a particularly good example of it though.

Yes there's nothing new..Its only in certain places I notice it Ludwig with the 2 songs mentioned
Patsy, to paraphrase Eric Morcambe, there are all the same chords but not in the same order. Oh, any you missed F.

ZM.Thanks. I know a sequence of chords will fit a lot of songs. Just played C E F chords to Price tag, minus Am, and can hum tune to SotR.. lol..
