Prompted by Togo's post about Elliot Randall, I've been thinking about my favourite guitar solos. Off the top of my head:

Jeff Baxter on 'My Old School' by Steely Dan
Larry Carlton on 'Kid Charlemagne' by Steely Dan
Amos Garrett on 'Midnight at the Oasis' by Maria Muldaur

We should have some U2 ... (not)

Brighton Rock by Queen
A fine choice Richard!

One of my favourites is the third solo from Jan Akkerman on Hocus Pocus - I always thought the first one was best, then the second, and finally I realised that the third one is just stratospheric!
I also adore Stevie Stevens' solo on Billy Idol's Rebel Yell, so fine a solo that Billy has to flag it with not just the standard whoop, but another one as well!
16 minutes with the master.

The live vids of this don't do the man any favours

Too many to mention but always liked this (starts at 4.47):

Thanks for that, Richard.

You are so right - I saw and interviewed Roy when he played in London, a charming very self-effacing man.

I was gutted when he died, I called (Filthy) Teddy Slatus and we had a chat about what a huge loss he was.
I'm jealous now A-H; I never got to see him live.
John Squires can play you know. No better bass player than Mani.

Parisian Walkways. Gary Moore
Classical Gas,Shadows
Theme for Young Lovers, Shadows
Surprised no one has mentioned the Chain, Fleetwood Mac, the old F1 theme.

Have a look at Funtwo
