Every day do one thing to improve it .....
Leave the car at home, plant something, tidy your front garden, pick up litter, talk to a stranger, feed the birds, if we all started with one and it's hard to stop there, and we sent the message out to our online friends elsewhere we might start to see a difference in our homes communities and lives.

Can't disagree with that.
what a wonderful world it would be...
yeah agreed
impressed with the Japanese at the world cup clearing up after themslves - ( why ? a social imperative apparently)
shining example PP !
Would that it were so but, alas, it is unlikely to happen.
To make a noticeable difference you need most folk participating, and if most were like that we'd not have the mess to clear anyway. Besides I already improve the world, every day I give it the pleasure of my presence. For now anyway.

We can try, even choosing to be positive improves things for those you come into contact with.
I always pick up litter..speak to strangers in supermarket..just this thursday I complimented a wee old lady on how nice she looked..she gave me a big hug and said I'd made her day worthwhile, she had lost her husband and it was her first day out on her own...she made a huge effort to do her hair and make up..there were a few tears in both of our eyes
A couple of further suggestions:
More and ongoing involvement of schools at all levels, catch them early and all that and

Horsewhip those who come along and mess up just-tidied areas.

If no one tries nothing changes. I promised Dave I would live the rest of my life in a positive way. I choose joy

It's things like that that make the difference. One small thing, cost nothing
indeedy Douglas...education at school regarding litter etc..we were scared witless to drop anything !
I do all those things. It is a pity everyone doesn't.
I think people should be legally responsible for keeping the pavements outside their homes litter free. The council never sweep the pavements here.

No horsewhipping, that's not a good thing, even if you think it would help.

Even something seemingly selfish could count, making a healthy choice every day might save on NHS resources later. That salad instead of chips could be your one good thing
// To make a noticeable difference you need most folk participating, //
yeah like at the Last Supper Our Lord said - "well there are twelve of you but really to make a difference in this world we need at least the whole of jerusalem. Or even the whole of our rebellious country , ready to kick dirt in ROman faces, at the first er aleph. I blame the lack of advertising - who is responsibble?"
and Judas says " is it I, abba?"
and in the background you hear the refrain of Ring! Ring! Ring!

[ OG that is intended to be jokey - such a lot of what I have written has been misconstrued over the last 48 h - actually I think it is a conspiracy - but that as they say is another story]
Agree do positive things yes . I think one of the most important things is to show good example. People who should be showing good example are not doing it so it sets a bad example and they should be made an example off .
I can remember my mother sweeping the pavement in front of the house and cleaning the doorstep with a donkey stone.
// That salad instead of chips could be your one good thing//
thats not selfish -
oop ere lass that's martyrdom!

sorry sorry something wrong with me today
Bet the donkey was chuffed
