Music tastes change and evolve, their musical talent fitted with that era, it wouldn’t fit now.
Question Author
Do you think that is good or bad for present day music lovers rockrose?
Different times, but sometimes they are still good to listen to.
Jordy, you admire the same performers my sister would...if she were still alive. I'm 10 years younger than you, and they hold little appeal for me. Different sounds and styles appeal to different generations.
Horses for courses jordy today’s youth have a different lifestyle, so you cannot say if it is good or bad

Point I am trying to make is that I could sit and listen which I have done to the fore mentioned artists but the present day does nothing for me.
Yes but you are at least 60 years older than those that today’s music is aimed at!
I think it's a good idea to be exposed to as many types and genres of music as possible. Then it's possible to appreciate where it's come from.

So help me out here as you know I am on holiday and on my iPad,can someone put nat king cole singing unforgettable, and a present day equivalent, just to compare,
No because they are two entirely different styles of music
I live in the past in my taste of music. It's the 70's for me.
Not fond of Al Martino but I still enjoy and listen to the others. Yes they are of their time but their are still be best of the genre.
Question Author
Tilly2 I am trying to think of some of the songs of the 70s do you have particular favourites?
I don't think you will see their like again but that doesn't mean that younger generations won't appreciate them. I used to take the mick out of my Dad for liking Nat King Cole but now that I`m no longer a teenager (as I was then) I realise that he had very good taste.
Gosh, Jordy...so many.

Harvest, Neil Young.

Wolfgang I get the hair that I have left rise on my neck when Al MARTINO sings HERE IN MY HEART
Well i can remember a few chart hits for Perry como in the 70s and Al Martino's Spanish Eyes. There's loads of great stuff fron that decade though- TRex, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, ELO, 10cc, Eagles, The Jam, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac
Surely it depends on whether crooning will ever come back into musical fashion.

And you're by no means the only fan, there are probably millions who still like these singers, but they just don't buy the records (or download same) in appreciative quantities any more.

When there are already so many excellent performers in this style available on record, it becomes increasingly difficult for newcomers to break into that exalted pool.

So the answer's probably "no"
The 70's was the best decade for music ever. There were so many different genres that came to the fore then.
