Rumours of a General Election on 28th February. Could be fun.

"A General Election could be about to take place.
Three Cabinet Ministers and a further six junior Ministers have instructed their local Associations to prepare for a snap election, according to the New Statesman.
They report that four of them have named 28th February as a possible date. This could move fast.
This coincides with a separate report in the Daily Mail, that the civil service have been told to get ready and draw up plans for a sudden election. Both reports came within hours of each other, is something up?"

"Trying to force it on the UK by voting down all deals, and refusing to hold votes on any alternatives, cannot be regarded as democratic." It can be because no discussed deals so far come close to a true exit, so can not be democratically opted for. And voting on anything that doesn't supply an exit can not be democratic either. The decision was given, the method...

I might cry.
A general election presupposes a successful vote of no confidence, doesn't? No Tory remainer without an overwhelming majority at the moment would sacrifice his personal interests to the public good.

We're still (morally) in Old Sarum and Rotten Borough days, aren't we?
In the words of Brenda from Bristol “Oh no not another one”
...and of course a general election would - by default -give us government by Chavez and Maduro (May have got the names, but not the economic policies confused).

Now that's a real Project Fear.
// www.westmonster.com love it. PMSL.
No chance, unless parliament votes by a two-thirds majority to dissolve itself.
I would love general election, but would not know which way to vote, Mays lied, Corbin could not be trusted, who else is there?

Gulliver, is that suspposed to be a link?
I think with a different, (Brexiteer), leader, an election would be a walk in the park for the Tories.
Corbyn has disgraced himself so often.
And that from me, a lifelong Labour supporter.
(Not whilst he is running the show!)

+1

There isn't enough soap in the world that would allow me to vote Tory, but I don't think I could vote for the current Labour party either.

If I get an email asking whether I am still to be considered for poll station duties I will know. Ready and willing. I will automatically qualify for a postal vote so they will need to move PDQ.
I bet millions of former Labour supporters feel the same way.
I would love to see a general election just for the entertainment value, of seeing the gob on Corbyn and Abbott when the red turns blue, or bluer as in UKIP.
May IMO will not be brave enough to call a general election that she will lose
You honestly think Labour can win under Corbyn?
Shame Nigel not in charge of UKIP anymore otherwise they might have some chance for votes
May is a busted flush. There will have to be a new Tory leader before any election.
Jim not at all
For what purpose? UKIP have met their single goal. There's no need for them any longer.
May won too narrowly last time, JimF, which is why she's under the thumb of the DUP.
