I've Lost All The Music From My Iphone

This morning I plugged my iPhone 6 into my laptop and looked at iTunes.
I wanted to see how much storage I had remaining. Within no time I notices that the amount of music had on the phone had reduced dramatically and that all but a few songs remained. I have lost a few hundres songs etc.
I Googled to see what help there was out there and it seems that I need to restore the backup. On trying to do this all it shows is my wife's latest backup. My iPhone doesn't show.
Anybody out there who can advise me why this happened and what my next move should be?

Just a thought but....have you been looking at your wife’s phone all the time?

Have you used it with a different computer?

If so did you get a warning about it having been synced with another computer and content would be replaced?

Yes Zacs-Master I look at my wife's phone whenever necessary. We have no secrets and if I didn't spend time maintaining it for her it woudn't work at all. Some women are totally tech averse!

I think what ZM was suggesting was that your iTunes might be on her phone rather than yours, not that you were checking up on her.

Not so tech averse tho that she forgets to back her phone up :-)

Thanks for your suggestion Tuvok, but no warning. I have never done this before and didn't realise that I could lose all my music when I plugged into iTunes. I don't even know if the backup has gone to iCloud or my laptop and now can't think where to look.

Don't laugh ichkeria, but I backed up her phone the day before and lost all of her music ( which I put onto it anyway). I've now replaced it. What a mug I must be to do this two days running!
