A Big Favour With Shazam

I'd love to know the title of a piece of music I have on a cassette and it seems that Shazam would be the thing to do it, but I haven't got it or know how to, so would anyone be willing to use their Shazam to "listen" to this piece of music and let me know what it is. It would mean swapping addresses, but other ABers can vouch for my honesty and I will pay for any postage, etc. Could anyone do me this Big Favour? Ta Great Muchly.

Just search for Shazam and click download. Couldn't be easier.
You'd get a much bigger audience, Woodelf, if you could record the piece to an audio file, then upload it to Dropbox/Soundcloud, or one of the free cloud storage sites.

Then, anyone could get at it to try to identify it.
Well, that makes much more sense.
Mex is thinking outside the box ;o))
if you have google "on your mobile " open it press the mike button while your playing the track you want to find out about (don't ask google anything) then a "whats this song" will pop up at the bottom press on it let it listen for around 10 secs it will give you the answer
Have you a friend with a smartphone? If so get them to download shazam from google playstore and listen to your cassette. If you recall I did it for you on the Lewis piece and it took seconds to download, was free and gave me the the name of the piece of music almost instantly.
Woodelf, I don't have shazam, but I am willing to download it and have a try. My email is [email protected].
The app is downloaded, if you are still about xx
it's going to be a bit difficult if woodelf only has the tune on cassette and no way to record it to get it on the computer
Well, if he emails, he can ring me and play it over the phone...lol
Apologies, I've only just seen the message below (sent today) in my inbox, which Woodelf has asked me to post here for him -

"Woodelf replies: I would like to apologise to those ABers who answered my Shazam question - and I re-applaud you Prudie on your Lewis Brilliance! - but I've been having probs with my screen reader on the AB site (still am), but I have contacted Pixie and Pixie is willing to wait until I have found the flippin' tape which, of course, I can't find and am going through tons of tapes; I hope Pixie can wait long enough! Very Many Thanks to you All though."
Thanks LiK, I'm sure at least one of us will know what it is when he finds the tape.

With fingers very crossed, screen reader working okay at moment, so a Great Big Thanks to All and this afternoon, I will be playing tune down phone to Pixie - still can't find tape, but remembered enough of tune to play on guitar, so will do that down phone and hopefully Shazam will do the rest. A Great Tremendous Thanks to Lie-in King too. There's none better than AB folk! Ta Muchly to You All.
Cannot you play it on here?
Hope it gets identified and please let us know what it is when you find it.

Hi guys, well, it didn't work! Pixie said something was happening to the Shazam, but it didn't recognise what I was playing, maybe it needs a real professional recording, rather than a twit like me playing down the phone - I'll not give up trying to find that tape though. Many Thanks to You All...I don't think I'd be able to do that Dan!
Yeah, it didn't like me humming tunes to it either. You need to find a recognisable professional example of the music. Surprised the tape was insufficient to do the job though.

Or maybe back to linking to wherever you can uoload the music.
OG, that's the problem, he has to find the tape first!
Then they'll have to upload their humming/whistling ;-)

OG, it wasn't the tape, it was me playing what notes I remember on me ole guitar down the phone that Shazam didn't recognise. The tape is from 1990 and in those days there were no playlists like today and I've been searching over the years for the radio station, based in London and called itself Oasis - not the band folks - or maybe that part of the station - I remember it being on a Sunday morning too, but that's about it!...I'll not give up though! Thanks Again All.
Ok, but I stand by the suggestion; you record your playing, upload the recording to a site others can reach without logging in, then put a link to it here to see if anyone can identify the tune.
