Heros lay their life on the line to protect others.
These clowns are nowhere near that. Are they entertaining? Maybe. But they are making a lot of money doing it.

Heroes can come in all walks of life. Of course, you're right: Real heroes are the ones who battle for us, who are willing to give their lives for a noble cause. They can be the. Armed forces, first responders, like police or firefighters or even normal folk I times of emergency.

But also you cab have heroes in other fields, folk whose work or abilities have given you joy or solace: Musicians, writers, performers. Or others whose actions you respect, politicians or civil rights leaders, scientists, doctors and nurses, teachers even.

Different people have different heroes.

I'll be honest Waterboatman, although I love a lot of his work, Bruce isn't really one of my musical heroes, but I had no idea he was knocking on so much lol

I admire Bruce Springsteen for one reason. He was on tour in the UK during the miners strike in the 80's. When he was in the North East, he donated £20,000 to the miners strike fund. He said he could fully empathise with them as his family had endured similar things when his dad was a miner.

I didn't know that 10c. It does sound like the sort of thing he would do, one of those acts who keeps grounded in that kind of way.

He did indeed. I'd forgotten that. I do like his music, by the way. But I stall say, and it is just my opinion, that hero is misused in this instance.

In my army days, I lost three good friends, killed in Northern Ireland, and my brother, killed in Aden. All in the line of duty, protecting the innocent.

You're probably right. The thread was only highlighting his age, (and the age of his contemporaries: Elton, Billy Joel, Ozzy, Francis Rossi, Lionel Richie: all early 70s. Paul Simon, Tina Turner, Ringo: All pushing 80). I should, in hindsight, have worded it differently.
