. . . that you've probably never heard of ;-)

Here's a great song to start your day.

Danny Vera's got a voice similar to that of Glen Campbell, with a song-writing style possibly more akin to that of John Denver. This song starts off gently and then builds gradually as the orchestra gradually joins him. Pure bliss!

Enjoy!

Not bad at all Chris. As you say, he's a little Glen Campbell, which is no bad thing, but I think he's got a bit of the Jim Croce about him too.

Thanks, Mozz71.

Whoever he's most like, he's still damned good in my book ;-)
I feel a Spotify hit coming on. :-)
rather Glen Campbell in tone, not bad i must say
Question Author
Thanks, Emmie ;-)
Woah. He's Dutch! I would never have guessed that.
Question Author
Yes, Mozz.

That song spent over thirty weeks in the Dutch Top 40 but he can't seem to get any airplay anywhere else in the world :(
he has a very good voice, the more you listen..
i like the song and the production..
I could imagine American Country radio loving the track. A shame that lockdown would have stopped him promoting the song over there.

Alas, I fear that many US country stations aren't adventurous enough to give air time to foreign singers, Mozz.

Danny Vera isn't totally unknown in the USA, simply because he's recorded in Nashville, but that song was released in March of last year and I doubt that it got many plays anywhere in the world other than in the Netherlands.

It sounds just as good live though!

Wow slightly blown away by that. It reminds of my reaction to the first time I heard Eva Cassidy. Thanks

Thanks, Janzman.

I'm pleased that you're a fan ;-)
Thanks Chris, a good tune and a great voice.
The writing's very Jimmy Webb, which I suppose makes the similarity with Glen Campbell even more so.

My only criticism would be that the cheesy arrangement does date it rather. I would imagine that alone might hold it back.

Still, at least it's "real". And it's nice to hear Jim Croce getting a mention from Mozz too ;o)
Question Author
Thanks, TB ;)
Yes, I like that. Sits right on the cusp of country/pop- much like John Denver and Glen Campbell as mentioned- right up my steeet.
Question Author
Thanks, Richtee!
He has a wonderful deep tone Chris, thank you for that x
Question Author
Thanks, Mamya.

I thought that you might like the song when I posted it ;-)
Love it! Sou d's like Glen Campbell, also someone else, who I can't think of right now. Love the strings I the background.
Question Author
Thanks, Patsy.

TB thinks that those strings are a bit 'cheesy' but what's wrong with a bit of 'cheesiness' in country music anyway? I thought it was mandatory!
;-)
