from Glyndebourne is on at 5pm this afternoon. Next Sunday it will be another Mozart offering, Cosi fan Tutte (one of my favourites). You can watch it on YouTube or on the Glyndebourne website.

This is one of the most famous operatic arias in the world, where Butterfly is longing for her lover to come back. If you can bear to listen for a few minutes, have this one on me. xx

Thanks LadyB. BBC2 showed this one a few years ago. It is absolutely wonderful, with Gerald Finley playing the Don.
If I remember, it features our own Kate Royal as Donna Elvira.
It's quite a dark interpretation, especially with the final "descending into hell" scene.
I'm with you on Cosi Fan Tutte. Probably my favourite too.
One time I saw it, it was a touring production by The Garden Opera Company. We were all in the grounds of a big ol' Devon stately home .A load of us were given complimentary tickets by a local Builders' Merchants.......... including hampers & champers.
How cool is that?
