I adored The Sweet, I thought the way Mick Tucker twirled his drumsticks was one of the coolest things I have ever seen - and frankly, it still is.

I interviewed Brian Connolly towards the end of his life - back on the college circuit with a bunch of young anonymous session players, it was really sad to see. Worse was the fact that he was brain-damaged, he was incoherent and the radio interview I went to get was unusable.

Still, the records live on, and that will always mean we can remember just how wonderful they all were.

RIP Steve.

but there you go, now only the original guitarist is alive, if im correct.
great band..who can forget them in the 70's, i remember ladies dancing round handbags, men at the bar lol...

I met The Sweet. Brian Connolly was in a pretty bad way. His band member said it was due to his addiction issues. Steve Priest was a nice bloke.

Yes, I can remember and immediately recognise almost every top 30 single from that era. Some great music- Sweet , T Rex , Slade, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, then Eagles/ELO then The Jam, Buzzcocks, Clash, Blondie, Stranglers in the later 70s
