Lonnie Donegan. Last Train to San Fernando and on other side Cumberland Gap. The first record we had for about a month to go with our new gramophone player. I think we wore it out playing it consistantly just for the novelty. The music was awful. :-)

Hi Bobbs, as you rightly said, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
Didn't go in much for singles but I bought the Beatles' Rubber Soul as a reel-to-reel tape.
Used to tape the Sunday top twenty chart show from the radio using a microphone.
But we enjoy writing about it so that counts Sparklykid :0)

I am sure the top twenty was on Sunday night about 11.00pm on Radio Luxemberg.
Anybody remember listening to this DJ, who I believe to be the first to present a hit parade on British radio.

Johnnie Ray Walking my Baby Back Home. Saw him live at the casino in Deauville and got his autograph
Cliff Richard songle of The Young Ones. It cost me all my pocket money and I still have it.
danny - Jack Jackson had a clever radio show (Saturday?) with clips from comedy programmes between the music.
My first record was Lonnie Donegan, Rock Island Line on a 78, which eventually got broken at the youth club.
