I'll bump this onto latest posts for you, Postman.
I did wonder about Jack the Hat MacVitie as you mentioned the Krays but he wasn't a pub singer (nor a 'grass' if it's cryptic).
I also looked up the Singing Postman but that was East End of Sunderland not London- and he was called Alan.
