I was one of those voicing concern when Boris first announced the easing of restrictions for the 5 days over Christmas, Sparkly. However, now that the 'variant' virus is sweeping throughout the Southern end of the country (especially London), the cynic in me cannot help but believe that Boris has 'u-turned' on the whole of the country in order to appease those down south. 'Twas ever thus.

Emmie, the area affected by this 'variant' is almost exclusively in the south of the country. So the PM decides you lot are in Tier 4. However, if he had let the rest of the country carry on as per, you lot would be up in arms. Therefore, to 'appease' those in Tier 4, he reneges on his 5 day 'amnesty' to the unaffected parts of the country.

We’re going to my wife’s mum and dad for Xmas lunch. We’ll only be with them from about 11am to 4pm, so about the same amount of time we spent with them yesterday.

Because the virus has recently mutated into something far more virulent. For gawd’s sake stop moaning about him. Fools are not restricted to parliament so keep your arrangements if that’s what you want to do. I felt really sorry for him having to make that announcement yesterday. His is an unenviable task.
