When I am watching a crime drama for example I like to watch in complete silence so I can hear every word and get absorbed into it. I find it irritating if someone who is watching it with me talks over it, even if making a comment about what we are watching and I miss some dialogue. Anyone agree?

i gave up watching tv with others, particularly my mum as she would talk away as though it was nothing unusual, right through a programme.
I figure that people are more important than TV. If its something I really want to watch then I watch it when I am alone.
Yes........that is why I watch everything on my own.
since i now live alone its not a problem.
I live alone so it's no problem. If I have a visitor when something I want to watch is on, I simply record it. However, I have been shushed in the past when talking over a TV programme !
I talk to it, does that count?
I do the same lb !
no LB, lol
No longer a problem for me, dave, as i live on my own. And my 4 'kids' know not to phone me after 9pm. If they want me to open the 'Bank of Dad', they text, instead, so that i can reply at my leisure. I have them well trained :-)
I certainly couldn't watch any of my fav drama programmes with that Gogglebox lot. I'd have to show them the door - the outside view of it, of course.
we pause it to talk.
My husband laughs at me , if something is on like a soap or even the Chase, I see stuff like wallpaper or like last night on the Chase ,a girl word a black and white very patterned blouse with a tan/ mustard suede bib and brace skirt thing, it was so not right , or the Corrie wallpaper in Fiz and Tyrones place , yes , I guess I do talk over the TV :0)
i can only pause it if i have recorded something or am watching on catch up..
I couldn't help giving away the endings in Whodunnits. Or muttering and moaning all the way through programmes my partners liked.
It's not the same now I'm on my own. sob
I never watch what is on the TV at the time, I record everything then zip through the ads. Even if something is on right now I record it and then wait 20 mins or so so I have some time in the bank for zipping through it.
No but the cats will sit in front of the tv so I can't see or as high up on my chest and purr very loudly
Shirley when I do my dog leaps out of his seat looking at me expectantly. Does yours do that?
I occasionally comment and get a sigh or a tut as response! He gets a dirty look back! Mind you there is so much repeated rubbish or just rubbish on tv at the moment that little is worth actually paying any attention to..IMO.
whenever I stand up my dog goes to guard his food bowl! I have never yet stolen his food but he still does it!
we often have the subtitles on because you can barely comprehend what they are saying even with the volume up.
