all this talk of toasties today has made me crave a croque madame. Does anyone have a recipe for a tried and tested great one?

That recipe looks good mamy, like a savoury bread and butter pud.

I love savoury bread and butter pudding. I thought I'd made it up when I first made one ten years or so ago.

You need instructions on how to put the egg inside instead of on top?

no. In france you can get them where the egg is on top, but sort of integral to the sauce and cheese; not just cooked seperately and plonked on top
