I honestly can’t remember having so much rain, and for so many weeks. I feel so sorry for people whose homes have been flooded, it is so difficult to get back to any kind of normal.
Fortunately, here in south-east Scotland, we haven't had very much rain but I know what it's like as my parent's home was flooded and the mess it left was undescribable - never really the same again.
Yet the private water companies make little effort to either increase storage facilities or reduce leakages, so the inevitable hosepipe bans get imposed in the Summer.
Then along comes Winter again, and because the same water companies have failed to provide adequate drainage systems, flooding occurs.
Year after year this recurs - yet no progress is made. The water industry is a disgrace.
I second that, Bobbie. You don't come to Ireland without expecting a bit of rain but this is beyond a bit damp around the edges.
Weeks now of stair rods and gales. :-(
