ipod mini doesn't appear in itunes

My ipod mini (icon) has suddenly disappeared from my itunes screen. I have an mac computer. I have gone into troubleshooting on the apple website but it seems
many people are having the same problem. I have taken out all my programmes and restarted them but it's still not working. Also on the ipod mini screen it keeps flashing "Do not disconnect" Can anyone help???

disconnect the iPod, restart your mac, then plug the mini back in.

if the problem still occurs, make sure you have all your music that's on the iPod also in iTunes, and use the iPod program I assume you have installed to format the iPod back to its factory settings. then disconnect, restart, dock and run iTunes. it should replenish the iPod then.
