I'm posting in CB because
(a) it gets more views than 'Music' does ; and
(b) some people claim that the Eurovision Song Contest has very little to do with music anyway!

Here's this year's UK entry.  How do you rate it's chances?  (My own guess is 'bottom third of the table' but, as I definitely know next to nowt about music, that won't mean a lot anyway!):

It's a good Eurovision type song if you close your eyes to avoid the writhing gollom lookalike. Has put me right off me dinner....

Sounds a lot like Peter Andre

Well, I don't like the video, so that probably means that the "song" stands a good chance.

I thought it was going to be back in 1969

I think the song and video are rubbish!!

^^^ I was reminded of that too, Lottie!

BTW: Is that a mini-skirt or just a rather long blouse?

Is that a mini-skirt or just a rather long blouse?

Buenchico, are you my mother??

Does anyone else have the same problem as I do?

I can hardly tell a word he's singing, so I've no idea what the song is about

^^^ If I was, Jno, I'd never own up to it 😊

I have to concentrate to pick the words out, Barsel, but I can hear them though.

I loved my mini skirts and hot pants.  My Mum encouraged me to wear them.  Those were the days!!

Barsel.  Ithink like that about most songs these days!!

You think that's bad, you should hear the Irish entry!!

Terrible,no chance whatsoever.

I am (soon to be)77,and I can remember decent songs/tunes,as far back as the first (May 1956) Eurovision Contest.

Ah,what happy and tuneful days they were, and I was ONLY aged 9! LOL

The Irish entry has been posted on AB several times, Elliemay1, but for those that missed it (and who can force themselves to listen to it), here it is once more:

Let's have a decent Eurovision Song Contest winner then, Gordon.

This won in 2001 but is now, sadly, largely forgotten.  It's got a classic disco beat though and with a real sense of fun to it:

When's your birthday Gordon.  I'm very near my 77th!

Gordon.  Was that Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson?

It's a "no" from me 😒

So, I checked out the lyrics and now I can make out he is singing make me dizzy from your kisses, but that's about all.

The song is quite repetitive, mostly the chorus over and over again.

Can't remember the last time I watched the Eurovision Song Contest and this song won't make me tune in to watch it.
