I cant remember who sang a song whose lyrics went:

"And the sailors say Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be. But my life, my love and my lady is the sea..."

I think it was released in the early 70's.

Thanks all who can help

Scott English did that one
This was Brandy by Looking glass.
But the original was still by Scott English.

Scott English did indeed pen "Brandy" which was taken up a few years later and had its title changed by none other than Barry Manilow who preferred to sing "Mandy" instead.

The Lyrics posted by Pauline Lee are definitely "Brandy" written by Elliot Laurie , guitarist and singer of 70s band Looking Glass.

Many thanks. The Scott English song was the one by Barry Manilow (he renamed it Mandy). The one I am looking for is definitely the one by Looking Glass.

Thanks to all of you - this has been bugging me for years.
