Towards the end of his life he also cared for his wife Prunella Scales. A great actor.

Normally I might just read an obituary abd think that the person had attained a good age etc. but bearing in mind how much he did for his wife it must be quite devasting for the whole family.
Tim first noticed Pru's symptoms some 23 years ago and it was not until 2014 that she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Watching their series of Great Canal Journeys was touching and there was a further broadcast of her illness and the effect it had on their lives in 2023 following their Diamond Wedding. Pru looked fine but the strain on Tim was obvious and I thought for some time that he might die before her. Sadly, I was right. RIP Tim, a lovely man and a great King Lear.
Never mind about King Lear, His finest performance was as Bradley Hardacre in “Brass”:
“I haven’t got time to waste here – I’ve got men to sack!”
And there was Professor Furie in just one episode of “A Very Peculiar Practice” :
[just finishing eating a steak] “This a second rate cut from a third rate animal cooked by a fourth rate chef.”
“Then why did you eat it, professor?”
“Because I was bloody starving! Tell chef I’ll meet him outside for fisticuffs in five minutes.”
“Pru will miss him dreadfully”
Depends. My friend’s mother had Alzheimer’s and was quite advanced. Her husband had a heart attack and died in hospital. They never told her and she didn’t ask what had happened to him.
RIP Timothy, and thanks.
