TOTP audience?

Just watched an old 70's video from top of the pops of The Sweet Singing Little Willy and had to smile at the clothes (tank tops and smock dresses) and dance moves of the audience.

Any A/B'ers out there that can say I was in the audience on TOTP's in 197...? dancing to ?

I was there in 1978 when Boomtown Rats had number 1 with Rat Trap, I seem to recall that it knocked John Travolta & ONJ off the number 1 spot where they had been for weeks. Got most if not all of the band's autographs along with Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy and Tenpole Tudor (swords of a thousand men)

never been there, but in the early sixties George Best was filmed (before all the fame) doing his stuuf to the Rolling Stones.

Dont mean to be a pedant Jules but you sure it was Ten Pole Tudor? They didnt have a hit until 1981!

Tenpole Tudor had their first two hits in 1979, both on double A sided singles with The Sex Pistols. Who Killed Bambi was the flipside of Silly Thing, while Rock Around The Clock was the flipside of The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. The first hit they had without riding on The Sex Pistols' coat-tails, Swords of a Thousand Men, was indeed in 1981.

Now, that's being a pedant. :-)

Of course, it's possible they may have been on TOTP in '78 for publicity without actually having a hit at the time.

sorry for all you pedants out there, I neglected to mention that I have been in the TOTP audience several times, I cannot remember which acts I saw on which occasions, but have seen the ones I mentioned at TOTP

They are still going you know? I doubt they have as much 'energy' as they did then.

I didn't know they were still going Gary, but can imagine that time has slowed them down a bit, they were rather manic!
