Hey im from Ireland and if your lookin for traditional Irish music, go with Christy Moore, the Dubliners, The Pogues, and to be honest stay away from Daniel O Donnell as he would bring back up the food that was cooked! Also The Cheiftains. If your friends are a kinda up with the music of today, try Aslan (great sing along music), BellX1, obviously U2 and maybe the Cranberries. Hope this was helpful.

as an irishman i'd say stick with mudbug's suggestions, although i'd ditch the cranberries for sinead o'conor - she has a great traditional album (can't recall it's name!). glad you enjoyed ireland!

Keep away from the Daniel O' D types. Go for Thin Lizzy, Hothouse Flowers, Aslan, Undertones and if you can find a Horselips cd. I've a great old Solid records combi ' Irish A-Z of Rock' so if you can track one down a great start point.

If you want haunting and mystical, try Loreena McKennit, Maire Brennan, or Enya!

Do NOT even think about playing Daniel O'Donnel or Foster and Allen unless you want your guests to leave early!!!!! The Dubliners and The Pogues are the type of thing you should be looking at. Also, don't wait until summer. March 17th is St. Patrick's Day. Get in plenty of Baileys and Guiness and no one will notice how cold it is! Have a good one!

What about The Corrs? 'Erin Shore' and 'Toss the Feathers' are nice if you want something a bit more traditional.
