I do know that Al Martino was a star in the 1950's,but I haven't a clue what he was doing in the 1970's. I can also tell you that 'Spanish Eyes was recorded in the 1950's - at least that's what I read - and is most probably true. I have also consulted the 'Guinness Book Of Hit Singles' and found no reference of a 1950's release for it. Perhaps it was an album track, or not released in the UK. Maybe it failed to reach the top 30 (as it was then) in the 1950's and therefore, initially, failed to reach the 'Guinness Book Of Hit Singles. Or maybe it wasn't released at all and stayed in the vaults until 1970. Hopefully, someone will know; I've still got my fingers crossed (but not while I'm typing)!
Best wishes
Lynn
