Since smack is a euphoric drug and not a sociable one, it might be Dave Gahan is implying that interupting him in the middle of a smack session is a bad idea -

"Words like violence Break the silence Come crashing in Into my little world".

Alternatively, since Gahan was well aware he was a junkie, there was little point (in his mind) in shoving the fact in his face. I'd be surprised if ETS wasn't a drug song. Most of the others on the album are.
