Funny it's mostly solo artists that spring to mind -Eva Cassidy, Shania Twain, Bryan Adams, Raul Malo, Eminem (not my cup of T but he shook things up), Robbie Williams, Britney (sorry couldnt' help it)aahhh here come the bands - Travis, Mavericks, Take That, Steps (Eye Candy), Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Thank you Boognish, am not sure Mr Boognish who I understand will soon be the proud owner or a new electric razor would appreciate our comments! The Bends is undoubtably the best album of the nineties, I have already mentioned Radiohead, Oasis, Gorkys, Gomez. To these I would like to add The Stone Roses, Nirvana and The Charlatans after that there are a plethora of other bands that deserve mention... Supergrass, Blur, Primal Scream, Pulp. I guess REM and U2 should be mentioned, but imo most of their best stuff was done before the 90s began, but I don't think too many people will argue that Radiohead were not THE band of the nineties. Oh and sft42 you have the worst taste in music! From a decade that produced music from the great bands mentioned above how can you bring yourself to mention Britney... let alone Steps fcol! Go and stand in the corner....!
Donnie, I quote "there's at least one artist in our collection that we'd be embarrassed to mention here"
that is entirely true, but you would therefore not list them in your top ten best bands of the 90's would you?! Everyone's taste is obviously different, but sft42 always comes across as a decent guy - I can't believe his list is serious!
My answers were a mix of fun and a serious notion of the artists who had made an impact on the charts, some of the users seem to be listing obscure bands just to appear "cool". Obo what gives you the right to profess to anyone whether or not their music is any good or not. I am a gigging musician and i can tell you music isn't a competition. Each genre and class of music is as valid as any other, and while Steps or Britney may not be to your taste (or mine for that matter) this doesn't give them any less credibility for that. In fact these bands have a lot more chart weeks than many mentioned and will probably ba remember long after most of the others have faded (abba anyone?). and bob (yer pure dead richt by the way big yin so ye ur i wis ony rippin' the pish wa' maist o' ma picks) us scots shouldn't fall out!! slainte!
