I'd like to legally download the single "One of these Nights" by The Eagles. I've tried iTunes, HMV and Tesco but they don't seem to have it, I googled it but just seem to get sites that want me to register etc. Is there a simple way to do this, or would I be better off buying the album from Amazon?

I applaud your desire to remain legal, but i would suggest that on this occasion, for one single, you could be forgiven for getting the single off Limewire - http://limewire.com/ />because they will have it, and if it's a one-off, i hope that wouldn't be a problem.
