ok, so i asked before what the top 20 hendrix songs would be for an album, seems pretty clear theres too many good hendrix songs so how about his top 40 songs of all time for 2 cds?

Drivin' South (from "Radio One" - awesome. Should've put it in my 1st 20), Foxy Lady, Red House, I Don't Live Today, Fire, One Rainy Wish, Axis Bold As Love, Come On, Gypsy Eyes, Rainy Day Dream Away, Still Raining Still Dreaming, 1983, Voodoo Chile, Catfish Blues, Night Bird Flying, Dolly Dagger (inexplicably bad solo, great song), Drifting, Stepping Stone, Earth Blues, Pali Gap.

I suppose there's nowt so subjective as music is there? "Hey Joe", "Purple Haze" and "Wind Cries Mary" are all absent; though I think they're all superb of course. I've always found "The Star Spangled Banner" colossally tedious, in spite of its contemporary "relevance" and warlike aural metaphors. Yawn.
