Amazon is really good for this - search for a cd you really like, and scroll down the page to where it says 'Customers who bought this item also bought...' Even further down the page it says 'Customers who bought music by 'this artist' also bought music by these artists'. I've discovered some great bands by using amazon.

Another good one is www.liveplasma.com Type in the name of a band/singer you like and it gives you a cool graphic of similar artists. Have fun!
