Does anybody know some good sad songs? I want some quite modern ones, with nice meaningful lyrics but also some classics like adagio for strings. stuff that can move you to tears! please.

Tori Amos- silent all these years is a good one.I also for some strange reason have a strong pull towards Annies song by John Denver - not really a sad song but the music is just beautiful. ( can you get help for this kind of thing?)

hey i dont need help! i think the best music is always things which are sadder! i think the lyrics are nicer and somtimes i get sick of pop bands and rock and i love anyting which is quiet and soulful. i just love all the mushy lovey stuff! i'm just like that, actually i probably do need help.

How about Christopher Cross, 'Arthur's Theme', or most of Burt Bacharach's stuff, if you're after bittersweet reflections on broken relationships and the like :) (or should I say :( ...?!)

On the same cd as 'Adagio for Strings' is 'Pavanne' by Gabriel Faure, Romance(The Gadfly) and 'Intermezzo' from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascani. The last 2 are real soaring spine tinglers. The album is called 'Adagietto' and is part of the Classic fm series - should think it's still available.

You could try anything by Leonard Cohen! Radiohead have a couple of great tunes, namely "Street Spirit (fade out)" and "Exit music for a film", but if that still doesn't work, try the theme tune to "the littlest hobo"... it always (sniff) gets me!
